چکیده

Abstract Burckhardt Compression Holding AG, based in Winterthur, is an internationally active manufacturer of reciprocating compressors who uses three-piece pistons its Laby® compressors. Due to their design for casting, the have a high weight, which limits size piston, particularly large diameters. For this reason, solutions are being looked produce lightweight using metal additive manufacturing processes counteract these challenges. One innovative techniques weight reduction that has been applied various fields science and industry laser direct deposition (DMD). Therefore, project was started with reduce mass enabling higher operating speeds. This study presents workflow manufacture piston from martensitic steel 1.4313 by (DMD) diameter approximately 342 mm height 140 mm. The characterized different segments, conventionally additively manufactured overcome machine limitations. crown joined part sealed CO 2 welding. Reducing power DMD reduced temperature, hence, oxidation manganese silicium reducing carrier gas flow improved buildup rate turbulence induced oxidation. Alternating feed direction per layer geometrical accuracy avoided material accumulation at sharp corners. A method found indicate quantitatively radius direction. welding types seams were selected enable good force flow; however, clamping device necessary. double weld strategy considered order notch effect hidden T-joints. enabled 40% resulting 24 kg compared cast 40 kg. Metallographic analysis 3D scans performed evaluate quality accuracy. shows limitations challenges how segmentation.

Component repair using laser direct metal deposition

Recent studies have indicated that laser direct metal deposition can be used for repairing deep or internal cracks and defects in metallic components. In order to implement the method, it is necessary to machine a groove or slot to the depth of the defect and refill it. This work investigates advantages and potential problems with the technique and compares the results from using two different ...

Characterization of a Laser Surface-Treated Martensitic Stainless Steel

Laser surface treatment was carried out on AISI 416 machinable martensitic stainless steel containing 0.225 wt.% sulfur. Nd:YAG laser with a 2.2-KW continuous wave was used. The aim was to compare the physical and chemical properties achieved by this type of selective surface treatment with those achieved by the conventional treatment. Laser power of different values (700 and 1000 W) with four ...

Direct Deposition of Metal Film Patterns Using Nitrogen Laser

Rhenium, gold and platinum film micropatterns were obtained by the LCVD method on the surface of silicon and glass substrates from vapors of R ~ z ( C O ) ~ ~ , (CHg)~Au(dpni), P t ( l~fa)~, respectively. The heated reaction chamber at atmospheric pressure with a flow of an inert gas-carrier was used. The high marginal sharpness and the thickness uniformity of deposited films was provided by th...
